Chemical Spill/Toxic Exposure

Chemicals are transported through our cities, down our streets and by our homes every day. Sometimes transporters of chemicals and toxins mishandle these materials and expose our community and our families to them. Frequently, employees are exposed to toxic chemicals while working. All of these can have serious health consequences.

Toxic exposure can come from many different sources. Recently, several hundred patients at a well known hospital in California began losing their hair after having CT scans. An investigation revealed that the hospital was using the wrong setting on their machines. The result: each patient was blasted with 300 times the normal radiation for a procedure.

There is a commercial airline operating in the United States that uses a lubrication oil that has been banned by the United States military because it causes neurological damage to anyone exposed to it. Unfortunately, some passengers have been exposed to this toxic oil.
